In Memoriam / On the Shoulders of Giants

6 October, 2011

Any passing is an opportunity for reflection, and when an individual of great portent passes this reflection runs deep indeed.

My son will not know a world with Steve Jobs in it, but his world will have been one brilliantly affected by him.  He will never know a world without the digital, a world where matter gets smarter and hopefully so do we.

What he will have is a better foundation to do great things because of Steve’s work and because of the work of so many other luminaries – not just in technology, but in all works of humanity.

We move forward.  We build upon the framework of not just one, but all.  And we do it as Newton once quipped, standing on the shoulders of giants.
